Job Description
Lehigh Valley Imaging is currently hiring a full-time, day-shift CT Technologist for our busy, outpatient imaging center located in Allentown, PA. This position offers flexibility in terms of work schedule, allowing the successful candidate to choose 4 ten-hour shifts per week or 5 eight-hour shifts per week.
The CT Technologist performs CT procedures of designated anatomy as requested by the referring physician in accordance with proper operational protocols.
Duties:
- Performs CT exams for patients in a courteous manner while adhering to radiation safety precautions.
- Communicates clinical observations during the CT examination to radiologist. Presents clinical documentation to radiologist.
- Properly greets and identifies patient prior to exam. Reviews patient chart/script prior to initiating exam to verify pertinent information.
- Responsible for the successful technical continuity of care for patients before, during and after CT exams.
- Injects contrast for CT scans in accordance with departmental policy. Prepares and administers contrast as prescribed under the direction of a radiologist. Notifies RN and/or physician of any adverse reaction to contrast media or change in patient’s condition.
- Ensures patient understanding of exam and patient comfort during exam.
- Prepares patients for CT procedures by accurately assessing patient’s needs, medical history and provides education regarding exam to patients.
- Maintains cleanliness in designated work areas. Stocks supplies, empties trash and dirty linens, as needed. Maintains necessary inventory within the department.
- Provides excellent patient care, comfort and understanding at all times.
- Assists in gathering and recording data for quality improvement.
- Assists in the education and training of new employees, students and other ancillary personnel.
- Assumes responsibility for proper and efficient operations of all equipment used.
- Answering telephone calls from staff and/or colleagues, directing calls to the proper individual, if needed.
- Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services or continuing education.

Education and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Graduate from approved School of Radiology.
One year staff technologist experience preferred.
BLS required upon hire.
Customer service experience required.
Knowledge of medical terminology required.
ARRT (RT) required; ARRT (CT) registry or NMTCB CT preferred. If not certified at time of hire, employee is expected to take and pass boards within 12 months of hire. Technologists who do not pass the exam must retake within 18 months of employment.
