Physician/Nocturnist in Lawrence, Massachusetts at Merrimack Health

Full-time Physician/ Hospitalist position available for our Hospitalist Service at Lawrence General Hospital located at 1 General Street, Lawrence, MA. Qualified applicants must possess a Doctor of Medicine degree and be licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts. Responsibilities include providing prompt, high-quality treatment to all patients who are on the Hospitalist service and who are in need of such treatment, irrespective of ability to pay; caring for patients whose PCP's have requested Hospitalist services as well as caring for patients who are unassigned to a PCP or do not admit to Lawrence General Hospital; maintaining knowledge of coding and working with team members to have coding match services rendered and documentation (the hospital will bill for Physician's services and revenue accrues to the hospital); instructing, communicating and meeting with the LGH staff in the provision of appropriate medical care and participating in other appropriate departmental educational programs. Physician will maintain CME records and continue appropriate education for care of patients and participate in hospital committees and improvement projects as needed. Patient care will include: seeing patients and documenting care with each visit, communicating with PCP's on admission and discharge and as appropriate during the admission and noting any significant change in status of the patient; communicating with patient's family, consultants, nursing, other support staff and case management staff; ensuring the safety in all transitions of care and with handoffs within Hospitalist team which may include patient care in settings other than hospital if mutually agreed upon.
