Position overview

The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting reporting, analytics and business intelligence solutions utilized to support the company’s business analytical and reporting needs. The position will also be responsible for building analytical solutions. Design and develop complex reports and dashboards to meet business requirements. Build scorecards, dashboards, ad hoc and standard reports. Create and/or enhance report objects, metrics, filters, and prompts. Collaborate with solutions analysts and end users to define requirements and reporting specifications and provide technical report assistance. Provide second-line support for users who develop reports on behalf of their departmental colleagues. Validate reporting results against requirements. Troubleshoot and analyze data issues within reports. Ensure optimal end-user performance by establishing and consistently executing overall system performance assessment processes and associated action plans.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain data warehouses using SQL Server Replication, SSIS, SSAS, and T-SQL scripting.
  • Creates, maintains and updates business intelligence solutions, reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Lead projects, developing technical requirements, defining scope, implementation, and testing as needed.
  • Focused on identifying solutions to business problems and needs, very knowledgeable across products, customer facing in recommending solutions, expert in data analysis, and extremely independent.
  • Consulting directly with business users, IT team members and decision-makers to gather requirements and define scope.
  • Researches and recommends business intelligence solutions and frameworks designed to support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Use data mining, model building and other analytical techniques to develop and maintain predictive models to drive the business.
  • Creates and maintains effective, detailed design documentation.
  • Plans and facilitates meetings. Estimates and plans project deliverables.
  • Coordinates and conducts training and testing for solution analysts and other end-users.
  • Identifies critical areas of the data structure and recommends improvements to existing reports and reporting processes.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks effectively and communicate progress well among teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills/ Abilities and education

  • 5 years of IT experience in reporting/analytics. Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience working with SQL Server.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Management or similar required.
  • 3+ years of Power BI development, including building and managing Reports, Scorecards and Dashboards.
  • 3+ years using BI best practices, methodologies, relational structures, dimensional data modelling, OLAP technologies, data warehouse and reporting techniques.
  • Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework.
  • Understanding of Business ERP Processes (Finance, Supply Chain, Job Costing, etc.).
  • Experience with D365 F&O a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Management or similar required.
