About This Position
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Credentialing Specialist is responsible for the credentialing, reappointment and privileging of Medical Staff/Medical Associate applicants. Responsibilities include verifying malpractice insurance and current licensure/board specialty/certification; maintaining physician database; providing administrative support at Medical Staff division and department meetings; license renewals, as well as office CLIA and TDDD licensure maintenance.
Education: Associate degree in health related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Licensure/Certification: Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Provider Enrollment Specialist Certification (PESC) required. If hired into the position without the associated certification, must obtain the required certification within 3 years of hire date.
Experience: A minimum of one year of medical office or similar medical staff office experience is required. Medical staff credentialing experience is required and experience with Power Point and CACTUS is preferred.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and computer skills, including proficiency with Word and Excel; and strong organizational, communication and verbal ability and the documented ability to interact effectively with a variety of people are required. Knowledge of health care, managed care organizations, and government payors are preferred.
