About This Position
Position Summary: Responsible for performing MRI and X-ray exams generating quality images for diagnostic purposes.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Patient Care/X-ray:
- Takes radiographs following established procedures for patient care and safety including safe and correct technical factors:
- Consistent/proper use of Rex value range in DR
- Optimal patient preparation and positioning
- Consistent and accurate labeling of images per department protocol
- Reviews images, makes quality adjustments, and makes images available to providers for review on computer system.
- Uses a variety of radiation protection, shielding for patients and monitoring materials for staff including wearing badges and maintaining required documentation for compliance purposes.
Patient Care/MRI:
- Escorts patient to and from exam and imaging rooms.
- Prepares patients for imaging procedures to include complete screening process with patient safety in mind.
- Takes images following established procedures for patient care and safety to include scanning all required anatomy and correct technical factors for highest quality images.
- Reviews images, makes quality adjustments and makes images available to physician for review on computer system.
- Communicates concerns about imaging results to Radiologists so that further diagnostic decisions can be made.
- Prepares and administers contrast materials when indicated and instructs patients accordingly.
- Performs QA procedures according to instrument manufacturer’s recommendation for MRI and radiographic equipment.
Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
- Ensures equipment is in working order and completes/maintains maintenance records as required.
- Performs troubleshooting on radiography equipment/software and contacts service providers when problems require a service call.
Support Efficient Workflow:
- Escorts patients to and from exam and x-ray room.
- Accurately inputs orders, charges or other information required in EMR and processes related documentation to facilitate patient flow through clinic.
- Imaging rooms are cleaned and stocked with necessary supplies and communicates supply needs as needed.
Initiative:
- Seeks out assignments and assumes additional duties when patient permits.
- Proposes new ideas or suggests improvement to processes.
- Attempts to problem solve independently before involving supervisor or vendors.
- Provides support and coverage of other imaging staff to ensure all ordered imaging is completed.
- May perform other duties as indicated by location to facilitate patient care or fill down time productively.
Teamwork:
- Works cooperatively with coworkers, providers, and management.
- Shares knowledge and insights with co-workers in a constructive manner.
- Willingly provides coverage to department, staying beyond scheduled ending time when clinic schedule demands it, volunteering to cover time off or unexpected absences, maintaining workflow in department without direct supervision.
- Addresses conflicts with person directly before involving manager or uninvolved peers.
- Is considerate of others with regard to taking breaks or meal periods, use of computer and telephone, and noise in department.
Policies and Procedures:
- Knows and complies with policies and procedures as enumerated in the Orthopedic One Employee Handbook and policies and procedures documents.
- Provides assistance and support to leadership in implementing policies and procedures as necessary.
- Actively participates in training, and conducting day to day work activity by adhering to all policies and procedures as enumerated in compliance and risk management programs.
Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure Required: Completion of an MRI clinical program and MRI Registry eligible within 12 months. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program and holds current State license and professional registry (ARRT) in Radiology. Previous MRI experience required, professional registry (ARRT) MR preferred. Must maintain current CPR/AED certification.
