Paramedic Emergency Room Setting at Ashtabula County Medical Center – Ashtabula, Ohio

Summary

The Paramedic performs a variety of duties to assist the nursing staff in rendering patient care in the Emergency Department within the limit of the State of Ohio certification guidelines.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• In-depth knowledge of clinical practice applicable to population served including pathophysiology, emergency management, and evaluation.
• Demonstrates effective leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities to include basic hygiene, skin care, feeding, normal vital signs and other general hands-on patient care functions normally attained through one or more years of formal training.

Required Length and Type of Experience

• Paramedic preferred. A minimum of one year recent patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home, or healthcare field.
• Department, Critical Care Unit, or Critical Care Transport preferred.

Required Licensure or Certification

• Current license State of Ohio EMT - Paramedic
• Current ACLS certification
• BTLS or the equivalent preferred.
