CAH- Skilled Maintenance Worker – Full Time- DayShift-Req 7888

Pay Range: $19.30-$24.26*

The Skilled Maintenance Worker maintains all hospital owned and operated buildings in livable and workable condition relative to heat, light, power, air conditioning, and other broad environmental factors. Repairs, reconstructs, and sometimes constructs the hospital’s physical plant and its contents up to and including major additions to the size of the plant. Performs a variety of general, mechanical and preventative maintenance as well as inspections, servicing, repair and overhaul of equipment and facilities of the hospital. The employee generally performs duties in a shop area and throughout the interior and exterior of various facilities in all weather. Tasks involve standing, using both hands in operations, climbing ladders, stooping, and kneeling, intermittent carrying of equipment. Strenuous physical exertion is sometimes required when handling heavy and bulky materials. Workers must be able to lift and move materials up to 40 lbs. unassisted, and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Employees are exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, high risk from moving parts, high temperatures from boiler plant operations, and cold winter weather conditions. Employees work in a hospital environment where there is a possible exposure to infectious diseases and respond to Code Orange. Patient Intervention events. Employees in this position are required to take an on-call rotation

To operate and maintain equipment, to assist in the day-to-day operations and completion of tasks related to the physical plant of the hospital.

Qualifications:

• Two years vocational and/or college schooling or High School diploma with 3 - 5 years’ experience in related field.

• Must possess the ability to interact and communicate effectively with various patient age groups, primarily in the adult level.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license acceptable to Carthage Area Hospital’s insurance carrier.
