POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Architect/Architectural Staff

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Candidate must be able to apply sound knowledge of architectural principles and practices in a broad array of assignments and related fields. The position requires working well in an open studio/team environment, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, managing design documentation, balancing technical and creative aspects of projects, and strong organizational skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring development and implementation of new or improved techniques and procedures.
  • Participates in the iterative design process by preparing design alternatives, contributing technical input, and ensuring coordination between aesthetics and technical performance.
  • Coordinates, distributes and reviews work and information of consultants, engineers, and internal staff to ensure design alignment and project consistency
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of finished plans, specifications or approval of materials and construction
  • Performs elementary design computations
  • Prepares architectural drawings and technical details with increasing independence, ensuring they meet applicable codes, standards, and project goals. Works alongside the Project Architect to refine construction details.
  • Produces and refines project documentation, including schematic designs, design development drawings, and construction documents, under the supervision of licensed architects.
  • Assists in field surveys and site observations, documenting architectural features of structures and translating field conditions into accurate virtual models.
  • Utilizes Revit, Enscape3D, and other rendering tools to create compelling visualizations, virtual models, and presentation graphics.
  • Manages the BIM model in REVIT and BIM 360 and monitors model quality for assigned projects
  • Provides technical support for BIM-enabled workflows and coordinates with internal project teams to solve design and documentation challenges.
  • Ensures compliance with local building codes, zoning requirements, and industry standards. Stays informed of updates in codes, materials, and best practices to improve the quality of deliverables.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
  • Licensed not required, but candidates must be actively pursuing licensure in the state of Illinois

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years working in an architecture firm

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of Revit and AutoCAD in creating and/or developing construction documents
  • Knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and basic detailing
  • Strong BIM skills with hands-on experience in BIM 360, including model coordination and troubleshooting
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Preferred experience with Enscape3D for rendering and SketchUp or other 3D modeling software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
