Phlebotomist

Job Summary:
Responsible for culturing body fluids, exudates, surgical, and other biological specimens to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases; collects blood specimens and other specimens from patients; performs some clerical duties and assists in clinical testing.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma with courses in chemistry and/or biology.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requires critical decision making ability in emergency situations; computer word-processing skills; good communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling; motor coordination to work with patients and equipment. Must maintain valid and current driver’s license.
