Civil Engineering Co-op Student – Summer 2025 (CFS Alert, NU)

Gain Hands-On Experience in the Arctic!

Nasittuq Corporation is seeking a Civil Engineering Co-op Student to support the Terraces Gabion Walls Construction Project and other engineering tasks at CFS Alert, NU – the northernmost permanently inhabited settlement in the world. This is a unique opportunity to develop your field engineering skills in a remote, high-impact environment.

What You’ll Do:

? Project Preparation (Ottawa – May) – Assist in project planning and Health & Safety coordination.

? Field Work at CFS Alert (June–August) – Travel to site for data collection, construction monitoring, and coordination.

? Quality Assurance & Safety – Support daily tailgate safety meetings and ensure compliance with QA/QC standards.

? Progress Reporting – Assist project managers with construction updates and documentation.

? Construction Site Support – Work alongside heavy equipment operators, labourers, and supervisors.

Who You Are:

?? Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Civil Engineering program (must have completed at least two years).

?? Hands-on engineering skills – Comfortable with fieldwork, site coordination, and reading construction drawings.

?? Strong communicator – Able to collaborate with supervisors, site managers, and labourers.

?? Self-starter – Can work independently with minimal supervision.

What You Need:

?? Valid Canadian Passport (for required travel through Greenland).

?? Reliability Security Clearance (Nasittuq will assist with the application).

?? Pre-Employment Medical Clearance.

Location & Travel Details:

?? Ottawa (10%–20%) – Initial project preparation.

?? CFS Alert, NU (80%–90%) – Primary work location (travel, accommodations, and meals fully covered).
