About This Position

Summary of Duties: Responsible for ensuring that our providers who have rendered their services are paid appropriately by patients and insurance carriers in a timely manner. Must be an experienced, highly self-motivated individual to enhance a team of professionals in collecting current and outstanding payments from insurance carriers. Must be able to read and comprehend E.O.B.’s from multiple insurance companies. Must effectively communicate with other people in a team environment and be able to take direction. Must also be an extremely reliable person who is accountable for their time and performance as well as a problem solver who can follow up and follow through on outstanding balances and/or issues without being micromanaged. Essential Functions: 1. Collect current and outstanding payment from insurance carriers in a timely manner 2. Quickly identify and correct claim errors for resubmission to insurance carriers 3. Write effective appeals letters 4. Effectively spot concerning trends and investigate for resolution 5. Must communicate concerning trends to supervisor and management Skills/Experience: 1. Knowledge of medical billing/ collection practices 2. Knowledge of computer programs 3. Knowledge of business office procedures 4. Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment 5. Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system 6. Skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner 7. Ability to read and understand and follow oral and written instructions 8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, provider staff, employees and the public 9. Must be well organized and detail-oriented. 10. Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment. 11. Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system. 12. Skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. 13. Knowledge of business office procedures. 14. Ability to multitask. 15. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. 16. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with provider staff and fellow employees. Environment/Working Conditions: Choice of working in our Modesto office or may work from home. Occasional overtime may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs dictate. Physical Demands: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator, computer keyboard, and switchboard. Minimal lifting may be required not to exceed 20 lbs. This description is intended to provide only basic guidelines for meeting job requirements.
