Job Description:
The Diesel Mechanic/ Technician will diagnose, adjust, and repair truck and trailer equipment, to include but not limited to: Commercial tires, Brakes, PM and Annual Inspections and Electrical. This position is responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of the fleet. The Technician must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail and must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. Tuesdays and Wednesdays off.
Job Duties:

• Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment.
• Identify warrantable repairs and document on work order.
• Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, cooling systems, and electrical systems to ensure that they are in proper operating condition per DOT specs.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as laptop computers, analyzers, and pressure gauges.
• Trailer work includes but is not limited to: PM and Annual inspections, TI’s, Brakes and Air leaks.
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.
• Maintain work area appearance and safety requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• At least 6 months verifiable experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational/Technical or certification preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools) required.
• Familiar with Paccar, Cummings, Peterbilt, Bendix Systems, OEM and Eaton Products is a plus.
• Inflation Box Trailer, Air to Air.
• Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems.
• Must have own tools.
• Class A CDL is a plus.
• Clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, Technician will be required to move frequently, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crawl, climb and sit.
• The Technician is frequently required to use hands to touch, grasp, and to reach.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• The Technician must be able to regularly lift and / or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.

Typical Environment Conditions:

• Shop and outside environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, dirt and noise.
