Assistant Controller - Plant

The Assistant Controller – Plant is responsible for supporting the Corporate Controller in all aspects of plant financial management, including preparing financial statements, analyzing performance metrics, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and collaborating with other departments to provide critical financial insights for operational decision-making within a manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities (Included but not limited to):
· Financial Reporting:
· Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the plant.
· Perform variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual costs.
· Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor plant performance.
· Budgeting and Forecasting:
· Support the development and maintenance of plant budgets.
· Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations for cost control.
· Assist in forecasting future financial performance based on operational trends.
· Cost Accounting:
· Monitor and analyze production costs, including direct materials, labor, and overhead.
· Conduct inventory cycle counts and ensure accurate inventory valuation.
· Support cost reduction initiatives by identifying areas of inefficiency.
· Internal Controls:
· Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls.
· Monitor financial transactions for accuracy and identify potential risks.
· Assist in implementing and maintaining internal control procedures.
· Operational Support:
· Collaborate with plant management to provide financial insights for decision-making.
· Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for improvement.
· Support the plant in capital expenditure analysis and project evaluation.
· Software Proficiency:
· Collaborate with plant management to provide financial insights for decision-making.
· Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for improvement.
· Utilize Plex Accounting Software for all financial transactions and reporting. Leverage advanced Excel skills for data analysis and financial modeling.
· Support the plant in capital expenditure analysis and project evaluation.
· General Accounting:
· Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
· Manage accounts payable and receivable functions
· Assist with audit preparation and support auditor requests
· Travel and Collaboration: Travel 15-20% of the time to other company locations to collaborate with other finance leaders.
Requirements/ Qualifications (included but not limited to):
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
· CPA certification preferred.
· 6 to 10 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
· Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
· Detail-oriented with high accuracy in data entry and analysis
· Understanding of manufacturing processes and cost drivers
· Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Physical Requirements:
Mobility: Will frequently remain in a stationary position - to include standing, or sitting for prolonged periods, and communicate frequently with others to exchange information.
Lifting: Occasional work that includes moving or transporting small parcels, packages, and other items up to 20 pounds for various needs.
Vision: Must have the ability to observe details at a close range (clear vision at 20 inches or less), a distance range (clear vision at 20 feet or more), a variation of colors (ability to identify and distinguish colors), a peripheral range (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and the ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
Dexterity: Frequently repetitive and substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Environmental: Rare exposure to low and/or high temperatures, outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, noisy environments, machinery, enclosed spaces, and hazardous conditions.
