About This Position

POSITION SUMMARY

The Therapy Apprentice is a 2-year program, with an option to extend into 3 years, where the Apprentice assists with Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Speech Therapy by providing therapy aide services that are planned, delegated and supervised by the qualified Therapist in accordance with the patient's treatment plan. This position will involve experiential learning opportunities that may include other departments based on the Apprentice’s area of interest.

Rate of pay: $18.65 per hour

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association required.
  • Education: None required.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Skills & Abilities:Ability to conduct themselves in a diplomatic and tactful manner with professionals and non-professionals. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and adapt to a changing environment. Possess a dedication to teamwork and commitment to excellence. Must have basic computer skills. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly while meeting established deadlines. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. Able to maintain a high degree of accuracy, dependability, and strong attention to detail both mechanically and technically. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position. Possess above-average problem-solving skills, judgment, and flexibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist with applying therapy treatment plans as developed and instructed by the assigned therapist.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for therapy and follow through with equipment processes and procedures as instructed.
  • Communicate regularly with the assigned supervisor related to their work expectations and assignments.
  • Keep treatment equipment in proper working conditions for the purpose of implementing therapy goals.
  • Regularly clean equipment and workspaces between therapy appointments.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, restocking and ordering supplies and completing paperwork as instructed.
  • Assist with patient outings as assigned.
  • Participate in shadowing opportunities in other clinical areas.
