Why this role exists
Commerce Media is one of the fastest-growing parts of modern performance marketing—spanning Amazon Ads and retail media networks (RMNs) like Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Instacart, grocery/pharmacy retailers, Chewy, and emerging commerce media platforms.
This role will partner directly with the Chief Digital Officer to build Tombras’ Commerce Media practice—standing up a new commerce-focused team and capability that connects:
Retailer on-site + off-site media,Tombras’ broader media strategy and investment teams,Analytics + Data Science for omni-commerce closed-loop measurement (in-store + online), and Creative/Content for better commerce experiences that go beyond standard sponsored product ads.How we lead at Tombras: We’re a lean, independent agency. What you’ll be doing
Co-build the Commerce Media practice with the Chief Digital Officer: define the vision, operating model, hiring plan, training approach, and the “what good looks like” standards that will scale as we grow.Build and lead Tombras’ Commerce Media practice across Amazon and priority RMNs (e.g., Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Chewy, delivery apps, and other RMNs as client needs expand).Serve as the senior client-facing commerce media leader, presenting strategy, performance, and growth roadmaps to marketing, eCommerce, and sales stakeholders.Lead by doing: as the team scales, there will be times where this role will be responsible for personally launching, optimizing, and troubleshooting campaigns (Amazon Ads + RMNs) when needed—especially during client onboarding, critical performance moments, major promo periods, and new product rollouts. Own end-to-end commerce media activation with a strong “operator” mindset—campaign builds, pacing, optimization, testing, and performance troubleshooting (not just oversight).Partner closely with Media Strategy and Media Investment teams to integrate retail media into full-funnel media plans (search, social, programmatic, CTV, online video, etc.) while keeping commerce-specific KPIs front and center.Collaborate with Analytics and Data Science to define and operationalize omni-commerce measurement (online + in-store), incrementality/testing approaches, and closed-loop reporting frameworks.Collaborate with Creative to develop immersive digital retail experiences and retail-ready creative approaches (e.g., retailer PDP enhancements, creative testing frameworks, richer onsite/offsite formats, and commerce-driven storytelling).Build and maintain platform and partner relationships (Amazon Ads, RMNs, Pacvue/Skai and other tech partners), staying current on betas, product changes, measurement updates, and best practices.Define Tombras’ Commerce Media operating system: retailer selection frameworks, campaign naming conventions, reporting standards, QA processes, and playbooks that scale as headcount grows.Lead new business: support pitches, audits, and commerce media POVs; translate client business goals into retailer-specific strategies and investment plans.Help recruit, hire, mentor, and develop future Commerce Media team members as the practice scales.What you bring
10+ years experience in Amazon Ads / commerce media / retail media / marketplaces / performance media (agency experience strongly preferred).Tombras leadership expectation: you are as comfortable in the platforms as you are leading teams—able to personally audit accounts, build campaigns, and optimize alongside your team.Demonstrated hands-on experience running large budgets across Amazon Ads and at least one major RMN (Walmart/Target/Chewy/Instacart/grocery/pharmacy RMNs, etc.).Strong experience with Pacvue and/or Skai (ability to operationalize automation, pacing, and scalable optimization workflows).Proven ability to translate commerce business goals into retailer-specific strategies (share growth, new-to-brand/customer acquisition, profitability, category defense/offense, retail readiness).Fluency in commerce KPIs (ROAS, TACoS, NTB/customer acquisition, share of voice/rank dynamics, incrementality/test design concepts, retail media attribution realities).Strong client presence: can lead weekly/monthly performance cadences and executive-level QBRs.Experience building processes, coaching teams, and scaling a capability from early-stage to repeatable delivery.Excellent communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.Tools you’ll use: You should be comfortable navigating and operationalizing a modern commerce media tool stack, including:Retail media and marketplace buyingAmazon Ads Console (Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display)Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC) and Amazon DSPRetail media platforms (examples): Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Chewy Ads (and additional RMNs as client needs dictate)Delivery commerce ads (examples): DoorDash Ads and similar platformsCross-retailer management & automationPacvue (required experience strongly preferred)Skai (Kenshoo) (experience strongly preferred)Criteo and CitrusAdsOther common platforms you may have used: Teikametrics, Perpetua, Quartile, etc.Retail intelligence & digital shelf analytics (examples)Profitero, CommerceIQ, Stackline, DataWeave, Similarweb Digital Shelf IntelligenceMarketplace research tools you may have used: Helium 10, Jungle Scout, Keepa (helpful, not required)Measurement, audiences, clean rooms, and analytics surfacesAmazon Marketing Cloud (AMC), Amazon Attribution, Amazon Brand AnalyticsAd server / measurement tooling as applicable (e.g., CM360)Webanalytics platforms (e.g., GA4, Adobe Analytics) as needed for broader media integrationWhy you'll want to work at Tombras:
