Job Title: Refrigerator Case Cleaner

Job Summary:

The Refrigerator Case Cleaner, classified under Residual Stocker, is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all refrigerated display cases within the commissary, including freeze and chill areas. This role ensures safe removal, storage, and replacement of perishable goods according to product handling and quality assurance procedures. All work must comply with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and is subject to inspection by the Quality Assurance Evaluator (QAE).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize all refrigerated display cases, including semi-perishable gondola runs and grab-and-go endcaps.
• Safely remove products from chill and frozen display shelves prior to cleaning.
• Transport and store products in designated coolers/freezers to maintain quality and safety.
• Clean and inspect all interior surfaces of display cases using approved vacuuming, washing, and sanitizing methods.
• Collect and dispose of loose debris from refrigerated cases and surrounding areas.
• Notify the QAE upon task completion for inspection and sign-off.
• After QAE approval, return products to their original rotation, location, and order according to the PWS.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with commissary safety and food handling standards.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior commissary, grocery, custodial, or refrigeration maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation best practices.
• Ability to lift, move, and carry items up to 50 lbs and work in cold storage areas.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Solid organizational skills for correct product replacement and documentation compliance.

Work Environment:

• Primarily performed in chilled and frozen environments.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
• Involves standing, bending, lifting, and using cleaning tools for extended periods.

Additional Information/Benefits:

• This position is governed by a federal contract. Employees receive a Health & Welfare (H & W) benefit per hour, as per the Service Contract Act (SCA), in addition to the hourly pay rate.
