About This Position

Are you an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic? If so, Advex wants to hear from you! We are currently recruiting for a Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our skilled workforce. Advex Corporation has been in business since 1969. We specialize in machining, fabrication, and welding of critical components for the defense industry, including parts for aircraft carriers and submarines. Our Sheet Metal Mechanics are essential to the success of our organization. These are our "must haves" for this position:

  • You will be required to pass a TIG Welding NVSAC regulated performance test. This is done by welding thin gauge aluminum and steel plates together in the 2G and 3G position before hiring.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, with a focus on ventilation systems.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-1688/1689, Tech Pub 248/278, and PPD documentation.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift as required by the position.
  • Capability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to loud machinery, fluctuating temperatures, and handling industrial materials.
  • Position involves repetitive motions and manual handling of tools, metal components, and equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be comfortable working on your feet for extended periods during an 10 hour shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret, and follow travelers, blueprints, technical drawings, and job assignment goal sheets to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Fabricate, cut, form, fit, and tack weld light metal parts and assemblies (e.g., ventilation systems, lockers, cabinets) using modern machinery and efficient manufacturing techniques.
  • Work with various metals, including stainless steel, steel, and aluminum, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform quality inspections to meet Advex Corporation's high standards of precision and durability.
Shift & Scheduling Details
  • Openings on both 1st and 2nd shift

  • 2nd shift will train on 1st shift prior to transition

  • 7% shift differential applies to 2nd shift

Employment Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contract requirements

  • No felony convictions for Theft/Deception or Violent Crimes within the past 7 years

  • No felony Drug convictions within the past 3 years

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for 8–10 hours

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment with varying temperatures and noise levels

  • Frequent handling of tools, components, and machined metal parts

Shift Start: 06:00
Shift End: 14:30
Auto Lunch: 30mins at 12:00

2nd Shift:
Shift Start: 15:30
Shift End: 23:59
