About This Position

The Central Plant Operator II is a full-time 12 month position that reports to the Supervisor, HVAC. The position will operate and maintain all heating, air conditioning and related equipment necessary to provide a comfortable, safe and healthy environment for all buildings on campus.


  • Maintain Central and Satellite Plant and all associated equipment on site.
  • Work with other maintenance personnel when called upon.
  • Operate boilers, chillers, air compressors, pumps and related equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor control panels, gauges, dials, and meters to ensure proper operation of plant equipment.
  • Under direct supervision of HVAC Supervisor, make necessary adjustments on equipment to obtain efficient, safe and economical operation.
  • Perform repairs on equipment as directed or required.
  • Perform routine inspections of mechanical rooms,
  • Respond to requests for temperature adjustments.
  • Operate and maintain building automation systems, and respond to alarms associated with its operations.
  • Keep Central and Satellite plant equipment and building in a clean and efficient working condition.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned. Duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve TJC.

COMPETENCIES

  • Must be reliable, self-motivated and responsible.
  • Must have good mechanical skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and emails.
  • Ability to have a cooperative attitude and respond to after hour maintenance calls.

Required Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education/Experience

  • At least three months and/or any combination of experience or training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
