About This Position
About:
We are creating a new building-design optimization workflow that connects Autodesk Revit with a custom 3d application. The goal is to create automation and optimization tools that help building engineers and designers identify opportunities to reduce the environmental impact and cost of their buildings.
This role is well-suited for a recent graduate or early-career engineer/developer with an interest in applied machine learning, 3D software, and UI design for the built environment. You’ll work closely with the Chief Product Officer to receive direct guidance, and gradually take on more ownership as the system matures.
Key Responsibilities
-Assist in creating software to evaluate building structural layout alternatives using predefined rules an guidance.
-Develop Revit add-ins (C#) to transfer information to the program in development, and to automate selected Revit-based workflows.
-Support BIM automation and ML-related workflows across data extraction, implementation, and testing under guidance.
-Help Build data pipelines connecting Revit to external cost, material, and labor productivity databases, and create easily accessible databases.
-Generate optimization comparisons to convey trade-offs for cost, time, carbon and materials.
-Collaborate with designers, engineers, and fabricators to develop costs and design constraints.
-Deliver user-friendly interface inside of the software (custom ribbon panels, dialogs, dashboards).
-Provide research and comparison support to help establishing machine learning process.
-Support additional Revit modeling, takeoff, and construction-related tasks as needed in a small, fast-moving startup environment.
Qualifications:
-Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
-Coursework or project experience creating machine learning models (ML.NET, scikit-learn/TensorFlow/PyTorch).
-Foundational understanding of construction materials and methods (wood construction).
-Understanding of parametric modeling concepts (driven by adjustable design variables).
-Comfortable working with evolving requirements and iterating on early-stage software tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with development of Revit plugins (C#).
-Experience using Unity for 3D applications.
-Knowledge of structural engineering (statics, mechanics of materials, structural detailing)
-Familiarity with construction optimization, prefab workflows, or BIM data standards.
-Interest or experience in UI/UX design for technical or engineering tools.
-Demonstrated ability to learn new software tools and technical domains quickly
