JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Senior Housing Specialist
FLSA: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Housing Services
REPORTS TO: Housing Coordinator
LOCATION: Yonkers, NY
SALARY: $55,000.00-$63,000.00
Summary: Coordinates the day to day operation of the housing specialist program to identify appropriate housing for homeless individuals and families throughout Westchester County.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for supervising the housing specialist staff.
Works collaboratively with the Housing Coordinator to achieve various programmatic goals.
Identifies new and or available housing opportunities for program clients. Researches and compares rental market prices.
Promotes educated and accurate information to realtors, landlords and property management agents. Provides proactive follow up with landlords, property management staff, clients, shelter and program staff.
Identifies, develops and implements processes for staff to meet program goals and client needs. Develops systems to guarantee the quality and efficiency of services delivered. Oversees staff work performance and development through regular face to face supervision.
Oversees the completion and submission of weekly and monthly reports, HMIS Data, all mandatory HUD and DSS documentation.
Ensures client’s folders are in compliance with program requirements.
Provides crisis intervention and stabilization as needed. May require some after-hours follow-up for emergency situations.
Attends weekly cross department/agency/ Continuum of Care meetings as required.
Attends mediation and crisis intervention with staff when needed.
Performs all other related tasks as assigned by Coordinator.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor Degree required or a Master degree in a related Human Services field preferred; with 3-5 years’ experience in direct client services. Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable. Ability to work some evenings, attend open houses’ during afterhours and on weekends as needed. Ability to follow up and maintained professional relationships with realtors, landlords and in and outside partners. Knowledge of tenant and landlords’ rights. Ability to negotiate on behalf of clients and programs. Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Google Suite Apps. Must own a car and valid NYS driver’s license required.
