The Apprentice Program Specialist plays a pivotal role in developing, managing, and supporting a high impact youth apprenticeship program in partnership with Talent Ready Utah (TRAC), industry partners, Salt Lake Community College (SLCC), and local school districts. This position serves as the primary coordinator and advocate for apprentices, overseeing full cycle program operations while ensuring participants receive the academic, workplace, and professional development support needed to succeed.

The Apprentice Program Specialist plays a pivotal role in developing, managing, and supporting a high impact youth apprenticeship program in partnership with Talent Ready Utah (TRAC), industry partners, Salt Lake Community College (SLCC), and local school districts. This position serves as the primary coordinator and advocate for apprentices, overseeing full cycle program operations while ensuring participants receive the academic, workplace, and professional development support needed to succeed.
Key Activities
- Monitor and update apprentice academic and workplace progress using degree tracking and performance systems.
- Provide regular academic, professional, and personal development coaching to support timely program completion.
- Deliver personalized advising to help apprentices overcome challenges, navigate workplace concerns, and plan future education or career pathways.
- Coordinate transportation logistics, including scheduling bus routes for first year apprentices.
- Advise apprentices and supervisors on workplace policies, performance expectations, and conflict‑resolution approaches.
- Support readiness for full‑time employment or advancement by reinforcing professional standards and workplace behaviors.
- Assist in resolving concerns using sound HR and employee‑relations practices in partnership with supervisors and HR teams.
- Identify high‑potential apprentices and support initiatives that promote internal mobility, skill advancement, and continued education pathways.
- Provide insights for workforce‑development planning, succession strategies, and long‑term talent pipeline initiatives.
- Support employee‑engagement initiatives such as recognition programs, pulse surveys, exit interviews, and culture‑building activities.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment to enhance apprentice satisfaction and retention.
- Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs focused on leadership development, professional skills, workplace readiness, and compliance.
Qualifications
- Collect and analyze feedback and participation data to assess training effectiveness and recommend program improvements
- Collaborate with Talent Ready Utah (TRAC), SLCC, school districts, and industry partners to ensure alignment of academic, workplace, and program requirements.
- Serve as the primary coordinator and advocate for apprentices across all program partners.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and communication to support program quality and continuous improvement.
