Nebraska Spine + Pain Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join a highly respected, patient-centered spine and pain practice. Our collaborative team of 24 physicians and APPs, supported by experienced clinical and ancillary staff, is dedicated to delivering exceptional care and outcomes for our patients.

In this role, the APP will practice at the top of their license, working closely with physicians to evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and support procedural and outpatient care. The position offers a balanced schedule combining clinic visits and procedural support within a collaborative team environment.

Providers have access to advanced diagnostics, imaging, bracing, and therapeutic technologies, along with on-site Physical Therapy, allowing for a fully integrated approach to patient care.

This is an excellent opportunity for an APP seeking a team-oriented specialty practice focused on clinical excellence and meaningful patient outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities (Surgical):

  • APP schedules typically consist of a 50/50 split with surgical and clinical responsibilities
  • First Assist in Surgery with the expectation of following before and after surgical protocols, placing orders and managing patient care pre and post operation. Assist in surgical procedures, including but not limited to first assist, deep and superficial tissue closures, and application of appliances
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, suturing, wound care and managing infection

Roles and Responsibilities (Clinical):

  • Clinical rotations, providing direct patient care in an outpatient setting. Engage in collaborative efforts with the healthcare team to ensure a cohesive approach to patient care
  • Preliminary diagnosis and determine follow-up procedures. Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medications as permitted by state guidelines and clinic regulations
  • Administer and order diagnostic tests such as x-rays, EMG, CT, MRI, bone scans, electrocardiograms, blood work and interpret test results to aid in the diagnosis process
  • Covering new consultations as well as Telemedicine. Conduct virtual patient assessments, provide medical advice, and offer remote support for patients in need of ongoing care
  • Exercise professional judgment to consult with supervising physicians on appropriate treatment plans. Work closely with surgeons, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and integrated services
  • Provide care to approximately 15–20 patients on clinical days

Overall Care:

  • Rotating call schedule, varying and averaging 7:1 covering consults and rounding for service
  • Rounding patients daily in the morning prior to clinic or surgery
  • Continuing education and training for team, medical staff and nurses
  • Expectation of average hours per week, five-day work week, when not on call and 50 hours per week
  • Dictating and interpreting radiographic studies along with using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and developing a diagnosis and treatment plan, for clinical consultants and in the hospital
Requirements:

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current Nebraska NP or PA license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • DEA registration or ability to obtain
  • Board certification as NP or PA
  • Ability to practice under physician supervision in accordance with Nebraska state law

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Experience as a Physician Assistant, ideally with orthopedic or neurosurgical spine background
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Strong proficiency in interpreting spine imaging, managing postoperative pathways, and performing urgent spine assessments
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
  • Commitment to optimizing clinic efficiency and improving patient access

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving
  • Strength: Capability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Frequent exposure to chemicals, blood borne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids
