About This Position

Description:

We have an immediate need to hire an experienced Histotechnician to work on site in our Santa Monica, CA lab. We offer comprehensive pay, benefit package and PTO. If you meet the qualifications noted below, we look forward to receiving your application.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The histotech assists in performing all functions related to preparation of specimens and slides for pathologist examination, including gross examination, preparation and cutting of blocks, preparation and staining of slides. Maintains tissues, blocks, and slides after examination according to policy. Performs all safety, maintenance and quality control activities appropriate for the technical area including:

· Accurately accession specimens

· Perform Grossing on small specimens

· Perform and troubleshoot tissue processing procedures

· Accurately embed tissue in a timely manner.

· Produce high-quality tissue sections in an expedient and consistent manner.

· Perform and troubleshoot automated routine and special staining

· Perform and troubleshoot manual special stain procedures

· Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures.

· Maintain accurate patient identification throughout all workflows

· Perform daily QC of slides for overall quality of preparation, including but not limited to staining intensity and artifacts.

· Maintain daily QC logs and other required documentation.

· Maintain equipment and instruments in good operating conditions; acknowledge malfunctions, troubleshoot & notify supervisor.

· Obtain and validate control tissue used in special stains

· Oversight of supply and inventory management and ordering, and hazardous waste disposal

· Staff scheduling and workflow management

· Management of routine Quality Control and participation in the Laboratory Quality Management Program.

· Participation in preparations for CLIA and CAP inspections

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

§ Associate Degree in an appropriate science field and Histotechnologist (HT ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification or eligible. Bachelor’s degree preferred

§ 2+ years of relevant experience in a leadership role in an anatomic pathology laboratory

§ Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills

§ Must demonstrate highly ethical behavior and good judgment including the ability to always maintain the utmost confidentiality.

§ Ability to ensure accurate, timely completion of assigned responsibilities.

§ Ability to build rapport and interact collaboratively with team members.

§ Respectfully accepts coaching and guidance understanding it is intended to impart knowledge and help with career development and growth.

§ Highly PC Proficient with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, database systems.

§ Proof of legal eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

§ Ability to successfully pass an in-depth background investigation, including credit check and with a clean DMV report.

Compensation / Benefits:

· Competitive pay range depending on applicable experience level.
