Wood Air Conditioning & Plumbing is hiring a Lead Commercial Refrigeration Start-Up / Controls Technician to take charge of high-impact projects across the region. Texas based, we’re looking for a driven, hands-on leader ready to manage installs, direct junior techs, and own system performance on complex supermarket refrigeration systems.

- $36.00–$58.00/hr starting wage + weekly pay + overtime
- $40/day per diem – all lodging and transportation paid by the company

What You’ll Do
- Lead start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of commercial refrigeration systems (racks, cases, walk-ins, chillers)
- Supervise parallel rack evacuations and ensure pressure tests are complete
- EMS wiring & programming (CPC, Novar, Danfoss, etc.)
- Oversee retro-commissioning and EMS upgrades for utility programs
- Run small projects like case swaps, condenser changeouts, and gas conversions
- Mentor and guide junior techs and installers
- Ensure jobsite safety, quality, and on-time performance
What You Bring
- 4–5 years of hands-on experience in commercial refrigeration start-up, EMS troubleshooting and installation
- Lead tech experience managing installation crews a plus
- 3+ years of experience with supermarket EMS systems; strong programming and wiring knowledge preferred
- Experience with CO2 and glycol refrigeration systems
- Ability to read blueprints (refrigeration, electrical, plumbing)
- EPA Certification and TDLR preferred
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
- A valid driver’s license and strong organizational skills
