Position Summary
This is a FT, Seasonal Position beginning on June 1st and ending on August 15th, 2026.
Sunnyhill Adventures Camp is an all-abilities Camp in Dittmer, MO.
The Camp Program Support Professional works alongside the Assistant Camp Director and other camp employees to assist with leading scheduled group activities, including team building, challenge courses, Alpine Tower, Outdoor and Indoor climbing wall, fishing, hiking, and boating. Assists with leading activities to create opportunities through camp. The Program Staff plays a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and memorable experience at Sunnyhill Adventures Camp.

- Assist with set up and breakdown, including pre-inspection and post-inspections, for scheduled activities for contract groups and summer camps.
- Supervise and support campers with developmental disabilities in various recreational, educational, and social activities.
- Offer and provide individualized support and care to campers, addressing their specific needs and preferences, including personal care, such as bathing, dressing and meal supports.
- Provide attentive supervision and guidance to campers through the camp day and night, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Lead and facilitate group activities, including games, crafts, sports, and nature exploration, ensuring all participants are engaged and included.
- Collaborate with camp staff and counselors to create and implement daily scheduled activities.
- Communicate with supervisor and/or agency nurse immediately when any unusual medical or behavioral incidents occur during the care of the person we support.
- Address behavioral challenges and emergencies calmly and effectively, following policies and procedures and utilizing training.
- Implement positive behavior support strategies, promoting social interaction, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills.
- Encourage campers to develop social skills, independence, and self-confidence through positive reinforcement and encouragement.
- Serve as a role model for campers, fellow camp staff, and counselors by demonstrating patience, empathy, and respect at all times, while exemplifying teamwork, respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including timely and accurate record keeping, reporting, and inventory management, as needed.
- Utilize adaptive equipment as necessary when providing support to people we support.
- Assist with cleaning the environment to ensure it is well-kept, safe, and organized.
- Respond to medical and safety incidents, administer first aid when necessary, and ensure campers safety.
- Adhere to all applicable paperwork deadlines, ensuring that all assigned paperwork is completed accurately and completely.
- Ensure that all people we support are free from abuse and neglect and immediately report the suspicion of abuse and neglect to the assigned supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment.
- Attend and participate in team meetings and professional training as assigned by supervisor.
- Participate in on-call rotation on evenings and overnights during camp season.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
Required Skills/Abilities & Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and function well in a high-paced (at times stressful) environment.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance (use of personal vehicle required at times)
- Acceptable background checks
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods throughout the camp day and move across uneven outdoor terrain.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30–50 pounds occasionally (camp gear, supplies, or assisting campers).
- Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in typical summer weather conditions, with appropriate breaks.
- Must be able to visually and audibly monitor groups of campers and respond quickly to safety or emergency situations.
