Position Summary

Reporting to the Production Supervisor and located 100% on site at 2 Walker Drive, Brampton, Ontario, the General Assembler plays a key role in the assembly and fabrication of elevator and accessibility components. This position involves material preparation, assembly, and finishing work to meet production schedules and quality standards.

This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow detailed Material Data Sheets (MDS) and work instructions under the direction of the Lead Hand.
  • Perform material preparation and cutting operations as part of the fabrication and assembly process, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications.
  • Measure and mark materials using measuring tapes and related tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and assembly instructions to correctly position and fit parts.
  • Assemble components using rivets, bolts, screws, clamps, and other fasteners.
  • Install and secure components according to drawings, ensuring dimensional accuracy and quality compliance.
  • Operate hand and power tools such as drills, C-clamps, rivet guns, and nail guns as required.
  • Perform basic wiring, testing, and troubleshooting on assembled units when necessary.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain an efficient workflow and achieve daily production targets.
  • Conduct quality checks on parts and finished assemblies to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Mindset, Skills & Education

  • Energetic, eager, and proactive with a hands-on approach.
  • Experience as a General Assembler, Mechanical Assembler, or Production Worker in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic math skills (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand and use hands and fingers to handle materials and tools.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and walk throughout the facility.
  • May lift up to 10 pounds frequently, 25 pounds occasionally, and 50–100 pounds with assistance.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and tool vibration.
  • Work performed in a manufacturing plant environment with seasonal temperature variations.
