Grandfather Golf & Country Club prides itself on the memorable experiences we create daily. Summer camps for the children and grandchildren of our members are an essential piece of what we offer in season to engage and entertain children for eight weeks throughout the summer season. We are searching for friendly, caring, enthusiastic team members to serve as role models for our youth and ensure that their safety is a top priority while they are having fun and camp.
Job Summary: The Camp Supervisor plays a key leadership role in ensuring a safe, fun, and well-organized camp experience for all participants. This position supports the day-to-day operations of camp by supervising counselors, leading pre-shift meetings, communicating with families, and assisting with program planning. The ideal candidate is well organized, energetic, and confident in both leading staff and interacting with parents.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Leadership & Support
- Oversee and support camp counselors throughout daily operations.
- Lead morning lineup and pre-shift meetings to set expectations, review daily schedules, and ensure preparedness.
- Provide on-the-spot guidance and problem-solving to maintain a smooth program flow.
- Serve as a role model for professionalism, engagement, and camper-centered care.
Program Operations & Planning
- Assist the Youth Activities Manager with planning and preparing daily programming and special activities.
- Ensure all activities start on time, run according to plan, and follow safety guidelines.
- Maintain constant communication with the Youth Activities Manager regarding daily needs, concerns, and updates.
- Monitor activity areas to ensure high-quality, age-appropriate experiences for all campers.
Parent & Camper Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for parents during sign-in and sign-out.
- Relay any important or sensitive information from the day, including behavior notes, accidents/incidents, or schedule updates.
- Support positive parent relationships by providing clear, friendly, and professional communication.
General Counselor Duties
- Engage with campers during activities, transitions, and downtime.
- Promote a positive camp environment focused on safety, inclusion, and fun.
- Assist with setup, cleanup, and overall supervision as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth program setting.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm, flexible, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable leading both staff and groups of children.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with children and members.
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation)
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, frequently up to 6-8 hours per shift.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, and climb stairs repeatedly throughout the day.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 30-40 lbs (camp equipment, games, activity supplies, water coolers, etc).
- Ability to swim and remain comfortable in and around water (pool and lake settings); must be able to enter the water to assist a camper in an emergency.
- Ability to participate in and demonstrate camp activities at a moderate physical level (sports, group names, etc).
Additional Requirements
- CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications are required and offered.
- Child Abuse Prevention training is required upon hire.
