Job Summary
M. Shapiro Real Estate Group is seeking a dependable and skilled Sewer Technician to support the maintenance and operation of sewer and wastewater systems within one of our manufactured housing communities in Lake Charles. This position is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing sewer infrastructure to ensure reliable service for residents and compliance with local regulations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and able to respond quickly to sewer-related service issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair sewer lines, cleanouts, manholes, and related infrastructure throughout the community.
- Respond to sewer backups, clogs, and service requests from residents and management.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize blockages and system failures.
- Operate sewer maintenance equipment such as jetters, augers, pumps, and related tools.
- Assist with locating underground sewer lines and diagnosing drainage issues.
- Monitor and maintain lift stations and sewer pumps when applicable.
- Coordinate with outside contractors for larger repairs or specialized services.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Follow all company safety procedures and environmental compliance requirements.
- Assist the maintenance team with other community maintenance projects as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in sewer maintenance, plumbing, underground utilities, or a related field preferred.
- Experience using sewer cleaning equipment (jetters, augers, pumps) preferred.
- Basic knowledge of wastewater systems and sewer infrastructure.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve plumbing or drainage issues.
- Valid drivers license required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces when necessary.
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations when required.
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor work within a manufactured housing community.
- May require occasional after-hours or emergency response.
