TITLE: MEDICAL ASSISTANT / Medical Office Assistant – Front and Back Office - Bilingual (Spanish)
SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for support with the daily activities of an Outpatient Mental Health Facility including: patient service, telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, registration, and patient referrals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Update and maintain an electronic patient system as required
- Answer multi-line telephone system and either respond to inquiry, direct caller to appropriate personnel, or initiate a triage for response from medical personnel
- Greet patients upon arrival, sign them in and obtain insurance information and any other necessary data
- Maintain hard copy patient records as well as the files stored in our EMR
- Schedule appointments for new and recurring patients and enter appointment date and time into computerized scheduler
- Conduct and/or assist in reminder calls to patients
- Greet and direct patients and visitors
- Register patients and patient verification
- Make appropriate updates in computer system and on patient's chart
- Verify coverage and eligibility on new patients by using internet, web portals or calling insurance company
- Process payments from patients for co-pays and uninsured visits
- Assist with Intakes and Admission documentation
- Conduct a history of the patient’s condition based on interview and performs relevant aspects of a physical assessment, including vital signs, pain scale, height, weight, etc. and documents in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Provide patients with support and guidance as needed
- Reconcile daily reports
- Assist in resolving patient complaints
- Previous work experience within the medical field, ideally within the mental health field
- Working knowledge of insurance benefits
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and writing skills
- Perform any other duties assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour

- Medical Assistant Certificate (Preferred or Medical Office Assistant Certificate
Experience:
- Lab Draws: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
- Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
