Membership Desk Representative at Adirondack Historical Association – Blue Mountain Lake, New York

The Adirondack Experience (ADKX) in Blue Mountain Lake is one of upstate New York’s major cultural institutions and is nestled right in the heart of the Adirondacks. Offering four seasons of outdoor recreation, surrounded by serene landscape, and cozy small towns, the ADKX offers something for everyone who enjoys the serenity of the Adirondack Park. The ADKX is a seasonal museum open from Memorial Day weekend through Indigenous People’s Day.

The Adirondack Experience is looking for a warm, inviting and business minded individual for our seasonal Membership Representative position. When visitors purchase or renew their memberships, they are providing support so the museum can continue to preserve Adirondack cultural heritage and share important Adirondack stories. Because they play such a large role in funding our mission, we want to make sure they are treated with the upmost care during their visit to the ADKX. Membership Representatives assist members with check-in, renewals, upgrades, and event registrations.

The hourly rate for Exhibit Assistants is between $16.85 and $17.50/hr. We currently need a Membership Representative for Thursdays and Fridays during our open season. If interested in a full-time position, we have positions available in other areas that individuals could work as well (such as admissions, retail, or our cafe).

The ADKX boasts a number of perks for our staff members. We offer discounts at our Museum Store and Café, a complimentary family membership for active employees, passes for friends and family, and free or discounted admission to dozens of area attractions and museums.

Primary responsibilities of Membership Representatives include:

• Welcome visitors and members to the ADKX in our Visitor Center.
• Sell new memberships to visitors, renew and upgrade memberships as needed.
• Assist with departmental projects as needed.
• Primary receptionist for Membership phone line.

1. Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills required, as the Representative will be interacting with the public at all times.

2. Ability to effectively present information, answer questions, and manage being approached by several visitors at one time.

3. Excellent customer service skills required; sales experience preferred.

4. Computer skills preferred, including the ability to work with database and point of sale systems (experience with Altru preferred).
