We are seeking a motivated Water Mainline Foreman/Pipefitter to support pipeline construction and maintenance projects for our Public Works Department in Sacramento, CA and surrounding areas. In this role you will lead crews in installing, repairing, and replacing water mainlines, hydrants, valves and water services. This role involves reading construction plans, managing daily site operations, ensuring safety compliance, supervising equipment operators and laborers to complete projects efficiently. You will work to bridge the gap between project management and field execution, ensuring work meets strict safety and engineering standards.

**Will meet at yard daily and travel with crew to job sites, returning daily - 1225 Grace Ave, Sacramento, CA 95838**

The Role

  • Work closely with the superintendent and project manager on revenue tracking, material delivery, trucking schedule, equipment delivery and to resolve field conflicts
  • Coordinate scheduled water shutdowns with municipality
  • Supervise +/- 7 crew members installing water mainline, including excavation, pipe laying and backfilling
  • Travel to various job sites within a 2-hour radius (meet at yard & return same day)
  • Perform complex pipefitting tasks
  • Read and interpret construction plans, standards and specifications to plan daily operations
  • Enforce company and OSHA safety policies, including trenching and shoring safety
  • Ensure installation meets municipal standards
  • Oversee and often operate heavy machinery (excavator, backhoe, skid steer etc.)
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, JSA’s, incident reports, crew hours and material usage
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience successfully leading water main line installation
  • 8+ years of pipefitting experience
  • Skilled in operating and directing heavy equipment
  • Deep understanding of various pipe materials and joining methods
  • Osha 30
  • Confined space certification
  • Trench and excavation safety certification
  • Class A preferred with tankers endorsement and air brakes
  • Able to lift, carry, and transport tools and materials safely
  • Experience and ability to use basic hand tools, jackhammers and jumping jacks
  • Able to bend, lift, kneel and stand for long periods of time
  • Able to withstand exposure to heat, cold and rain; chemicals and fumes; dust from roads and break up of concrete; cars on roads
  • Able to travel to various job sites within a 2-hour radius (meet at yard & return same day)
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving; Class A CDL preferred; N endorsement required if has a CDL; airbrakes & manual preferred
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)
