About This Position

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and Seven years related experience. Must possess considerable educational background and/or experience to conduct clinical applications analysis and/or programming of complex systems, analysis of clinical workflows, creation and implementation of solutions, and knowledge of system adoption strategies. An equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the role may be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Cadence, Prelude, and Referrals certification or accreditation, Community Connect experience.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing hardware and software technical support and creating solutions for a multi-system, multi-platform, networked clinical computing environment. May also be responsible for formulating and designing specifications for intermediate to highly complex software and programming applications or modifies/maintains existing applications. Investigates, identifies, and implements appropriate solutions for clinical information systems to support new and existing initiatives to enhance patient care, increase operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance. Responsible for acquiring an understanding of the assigned system applications, functions, and features end-users would experience. Participates in and leads workforce groups to identify and employ technical and application initiatives for best practice and enhanced healthcare operations in alignment with UTMB's mission. Has full technical knowledge of all phases of clinical applications programming.

Job Duties:

Clinical Solutions Specialist is responsible for the design, build, optimization, and support of complex Epic clinical and access workflows with a focus on Cadence Scheduling, Referrals, and Oncology Infusion operations. This role serves as a subject‑matter expert for high‑impact patient access and oncology workflows, ensuring safe, efficient, and scalable solutions across ambulatory, cancer center, and infusion environments.

This position partners closely with clinical leadership, revenue cycle, operations, and IT stakeholders to deliver enterprise‑level Epic solutions. The analyst functions as a mentor, technical leader, and escalation point for complex issues while contributing to strategic initiatives, system upgrades, and continuous optimization efforts.

  • Epic Application Leadership.
  • Lead medium to large projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead design, configuration, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Cadence, Referrals, and Oncology Infusion workflows in a complex clinical environment.
  • Serve as the primary Epic subject‑matter expert for oncology patient access, including infusion scheduling, multidisciplinary referrals, treatment plan coordination, and provider templates.
  • Analyze complex clinical and operational requirements and translate them into scalable Epic solutions that align with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Own and maintain Epic build documentation, specifications, and workflows for intermediate‑to‑advanced complexity solutions.
  • Support oncology‑specific Epic workflows and integrations (e.g., Beacon‑adjacent workflows, treatment coordination, scheduling dependencies).
  • Act as a liaison between IT, clinical operations, revenue cycle, access services, and Epic vendors to ensure solutions meet enterprise needs.
  • Proactively partner with operational leaders and frontline users to identify improvement opportunities and recommend data‑driven Epic enhancements.
  • Lead or contribute to large‑scale initiatives such as Epic upgrades, enhancements, regulatory changes, and new site onboarding.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to Epic Clinical Applications Analysts and Senior Analysts.
  • Provide guidance, peer review, and escalation support for complex build and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Assist in defining build standards, workflow governance, and best practices across Cadence, Referrals, and Oncology modules.
  • Own and maintain Epic build documentation, specifications, and workflows for intermediate to advanced complexity solutions.
  • Participate in change control, release management, and post‑go‑live support activities.
  • Assist with cost justification and strategic prioritization of Epic enhancement requests and system investments.


Salary Range:

$111,615 to $145,100.00

Actual salary commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule:

Remote position. 8am to 5pm, and as needed on occasion.
