Job Summary
The Floating Medical Assistant is responsible for providing top-quality patient care and administrative support across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, and thrives in a fast-paced, mobile work environment.
This position will cover both our Bethlehem and Gilbert locations.
Essential Functions:
- Travel to assigned clinic locations as needed to provide medical assistant support.
- Room patients and updating patient information into EMR system
- Transcribe for providers during exams
- Assist with biopsies and select surgical procedures
- Educate patients on treatment plans
- Assist with cosmetic procedures
- Complete prior authorizations for prescriptions, biologics, and procedures
- Stock rooms with necessary supplies
- Report biopsy, culture and/or lab results to patients via phone if directed by provider
- Sanitize all work areas throughout the day and after each patient
- Send patient visit notes to referring provider/PCP
- Answer incoming calls when not in a room with a provider
- Assist office staff with front end tasks if needed
- Assist with training new Medical Assistants
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in dermatology or traveling role.
- Ability to travel frequently to various locations (reliable transportation required).
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational skills
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Customer service attitude
- Experience with practice management software (ie EMA) and Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
