Job Description
Midwest Co-op is currently accepting resumes for the position of Energy Yard Technician. Under the direction of the Energy Service Manager, the Energy Yard Technician supports safe and efficient yard operations. This role is responsible for handling and maintaining propane tanks, preparing equipment and materials for service work, and supporting Service Technicians to ensure reliable and timely service. The position focuses on yard maintenance, inventory support, and accurate documentation while maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
OPERATIONAL & SERVICE SUPPORT
- Safely fill, inspect, and maintain propane cylinders and tanks in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Assist Service Technicians/Drivers with loading and unloading tanks, preparing equipment, and staging materials to support timely service in yard and potentially offsite.
- Follow assigned service schedules with a strong focus on punctuality, reliability, and teamwork.
TANK, EQUIPMENT & YARD MAINTENANCE
- Clean, paint, lubricate, and refurbish propane tanks and related equipment.
- Replace filters, valves, and components as required and identify tanks needing refurbishment.
- Apply and maintain tank logos to ensure a professional and consistent appearance.
- Perform general yard duties and maintain good housekeeping in both indoor and outdoor work areas.
- Keep the Energy yard and parts building clean, organized, and compliant with MCS guidelines and management expectations.
INVENTORY & DOCUMENTATION
- Monitor parts and equipment levels and conduct regular inventory counts.
- Assist with variance reporting and order parts under the direction of the Energy Service Manager or Service Technician.
- Accurately complete and verify all required documentation, including shipping/receiving logs, TSSA forms, and billing records, within designated timelines.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Follow all health and safety requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including using required protective equipment, following safety procedures, and reporting any potential hazards.
- Follow all company personnel policies, including expectations related to training, performance, and conduct.
- Participate in required MCS training such as Ministry of Labour courses, Health & Safety Standards, Policies, and AODA accessibility training.
- Work cooperatively with approved contractors and follow all related safety procedures when contractors are on site.
- Maintain any required licenses, certifications, or regulatory requirements needed for your role.
- Perform other assigned duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Basic math skills, such as adding, subtracting, and calculating prices or totals.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic tool knowledge.
- Proven ability to work independently, or in a team-oriented environment.
- Effective oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive, professional manner under all conditions
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Primarily works within a warehouse environment, including outdoor grounds
- Continuous exposure to dust, fumes and smells from gasoline, propane, diesel fuel, and lubricants.
- Will be exposed to seasonal weather.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and the ability to lift up to 25 kg
- Will involve the use of ladders, forklifts, and other yard-related equipment
- Occasional extended hours may be required during peak periods or special events
