Requirements:Essential Job Functions:
Lead
- Track and Manage team progress throughout design cycle and manufacturing to drive successful implementation of custom solutions.
- Coach, develop and manage the ME/Design Team.
- Confer with team to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
- Lead process modifications to better utilize tools and talents for efficiency gains.
- Support the team on Quotes and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) Pricing where engineering is needed.
- Consult with Designers and Engineers to refine concepts and coach team to solve problems.
- Conduct Touch Bases every month and performance appraisals every year
- Resolve personnel grievances by either utilizing MM Solution’s anchors or encouraging the team to resolve the issues with our anchors.
Design
- Design custom packaging and transportation solutions for various industries including biomedical and aerospace/defense
- Conduct consultation and e-mail correspondence with clients to transition packaging concepts to drawings in a timely manner.
- Generate documentation for production which includes design, cut lists, cost of material list and BOM’s
- Generate project estimates and develop quotes in Salesforce. Present prototypes and designs to customers and internal teams
- Prioritize tasks with input from Operations Engineer, develop functional designs that the operations team will utilize to build the finished product
Requirements Review
- Provide technical expertise during the sales process, bridging the gap between MM solutions and customers; offering viable solutions that create successful outcomes for both parties.
- Balance Client needs, manufacturability, schedule and cost in design decisions to optimize custom projects.
- Support engineering team with CAD, Drawings, Simulation Studies, and presentations to meet client deadlines as needed.
- Work with suppliers to benefit from current manufacturing processes available. Also work to obtain custom components in time to meet the schedule.
- Work with production to support manufacturability.
- Support Sales Team with client calls and site visits to understand and scope client needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Ability to provide guidance and direction to ME/Design team including setting performance standards and monitoring performance and leading by example.
- Knowledge or experience with computer-aided design (CAD):
(a) SolidWorks
(b) SolidWorks Simulation
(c) AutoCAD Mechanical (optional)
- Knowledge and experience of DFM (design for manufacturability) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings and assembly documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work in a team environment with engineers, sales, technicians, project coordinators, scheduling and administrative support.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and work on multiple projects at a time.
- Ability to work with outside suppliers and customers.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5-10 years management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Good working knowledge of SolidWorks/AutoCAD, machining, and fabrication techniques.
