OCCU is seeking a Collector 1 to join the Collections department. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho for this remote role. Pay is $21–$27 based on experience. Employees who pass a standard Spanish proficiency test receive an extra $2 per hour bilingual premium.
The Collector I works collaboratively with members to resolve account delinquencies, using humility, empathy, listening, and critical thinking. They maintain OCCU assets and relationships by setting up payment plans, collecting payments, recovering collateral, and ensuring a positive member experience.
In this role, you will contact members to resolve delinquency, prepare repossession files, assist with GAP and payment protection claims, process account transactions, perform account maintenance, address overdrawn accounts and losses, provide professional and knowledgeable service, support collections questions for other teams, meet service standards and goals, retain member relationships, and comply with all regulatory and internal procedures.
Candidates need at least one year of experience in collections or a similar role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with general knowledge of bankruptcy, CPI, titles, credit reporting, loan products, repossessions, account maintenance, deceased accounts, straw loans, and ACH setup.
