Contour hires for two tutor tracks, and every application is assessed for both. We'll place you where your experience and strengths shine brightest.

Tutors: Focused on group class delivery.

• Teach: Deliver clear, structured lessons (8–20 students) that build understanding and exam technique.
• Coach: Motivate students to engage with content and develop study skills.
• Mentor: Share advice, anecdotes, and study strategies to build student confidence.
• Friend: Build genuine connections so students feel supported and inspired.

Assistant Tutors: Focused on individualised 1:1 student support.

• Support: Act as a secondary tutor during classes (most classes run with two tutors), helping address student questions and clarify concepts while the primary tutor teaches.
• Consult: Conduct 1-on-1 video consultations outside class hours, which students can book at no extra cost.
• Assist: Provide ongoing text-based support to answer student questions promptly after class.
• Review: Proofread and review learning materials (workbooks, notes, SACs/exams) for quality and accuracy.
• Mentor: Share anecdotal stories of success and failure as a mentor to students.
• Connect: Build genuine, relatable connections that make it easy to inspire students.

All additional support you provide outside scheduled class hours is free for students, but you're fully compensated for your time and effort.

• High ATAR achievement (99+) and strong subject-specific academic achievement (45+ in the relevant VCE subject)
• First-year university level knowledge or above in your subject(s)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex concepts
• Energy, empathy, independence and a proactive mindset
• A full academic year commitment with 10+ hours weekly availability
• Alignment with Contour's mission (non-compete agreement required)
• A genuine passion for helping students succeed

• High-quality resources: Teach from expertly designed workbooks; no need to create your own.
• Student ecosystem: Access to homework, workshops, practice SACs/exams, free 1:1 consults, 24/7 text-support and LMS.
• World-class training support: Hands-on training, class sit-ins and personalised feedback.
• Grow with us: Clear progression to Senior Tutor, Tutoring Team Leader, or Head of Subject.
• Flexibility: Evening and weekend sessions designed to fit around uni.
• Pay that grows with you: Tutors start at $45/hour and rise to $70/hour as a Senior Tutor. Assistant Tutors start at $27.50/hour and rise to $35/hour. Tutors also earn $25 every time a trial student enrols, and $25 every time a student returns next term.
• Unique perks: EAP, $60 monthly wellbeing allowance, birthday leave, and loyalty leave the longer you stay.
