Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and fast-paced Healthcare Data Analyst to support our growing data operations in a full-time, in-person role. This position will focus approximately 70% on billing data, including claims, authorizations, reimbursements, and revenue-related analysis, and 30% on non-billing data, including operational metrics, performance reporting, and other business data needs. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with large datasets, performing data cleaning, writing strong SQL queries, and building ETL pipelines to support reliable reporting and analysis. This individual should also have a product mindset, with the ability to think beyond raw data and help improve processes, reporting structures, and business decisions. The candidate must be able to create dashboards, identify trends and issues, and generate actionable insights, while also being comfortable presenting findings and reports to stakeholders in a clear and professional manner. In a startup environment, this person must be quick to learn new tools and technologies, take initiative without constant oversight, and remain flexible in handling ad hoc assignments and evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and validate healthcare billing data, including claims, reimbursements, and authorizations
Identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for revenue optimization
Perform data cleaning, validation, and transformation across billing and non-billing datasets
Write and maintain SQL queries for reporting, analysis, and data extraction
Build and maintain data pipelines to support data workflows and reporting needs
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI and Excel
Work with large datasets using Python and pandas for data analysis and reporting
Support operational and performance analysis using non-billing datasets
Build reports, dashboards, and analyses that support business and operational decision-making
Present data findings, trends, and recommendations to internal stakeholders
Approach reporting and analysis with a product mindset, focusing on usability, business value, and process improvement
Collaborate closely with on-site teams across departments to provide actionable insights
Assist in data pipeline management and cloud-based workflows using AWS
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal standards
Take initiative on ad hoc projects and additional tasks as needed in a startup environment
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in data analysis, preferably in healthcare, billing, or operational data environments
Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or a related field
Strong proficiency in Python, pandas, and SQL
Strong experience with data cleaning, transformation, and validation
Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines
Experience with Power BI for dashboard development
Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
Familiarity with AWS or cloud-based data environments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain data clearly to stakeholders
Ability to think with a product mindset and translate business needs into useful data solutions
Ability to work independently while also collaborating in an in-person team setting
Proactive mindset with a strong willingness to learn new tools and technologies quickly
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with seaborn
Familiarity with Streamlit
Prior experience with healthcare billing, claims, or revenue cycle data
Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment
