Overview
Bath Iron Works (BIW), a General Dynamics company, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to be the Project Manager within our Test Planning team. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), this individual would be responsible for overseeing the execution of Test Planning Improvement projects to better support the execution of test activities shipyard wide.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:
- Oversee project team is working in a safe manner as well as project plans can be safely executed in production.
Project Execution:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Develop and maintain dashboards / reporting artifacts to track daily progress
- Identify and assess risk to the projects and create mitigation plans as needed.
Training and Development:
- Hold daily meetings with project team to promote team development and share lessons learned.
- Assist in onboarding of new members to the team
Team Collaboration and Communication:
- Assign project members tasking in alignment with project roadmap
- Lead weekly meeting with stakeholders on project deliverable
Continuous Improvement:
- Have an eye for continuous improvement on all projects in an effort to improve Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost, and People.
Responsibilities
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Organizational Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in project management, such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional), is an advantage.
Qualifications
- 3 years of related experience required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify critical paths, analyze complex data, and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project, to develop and manage schedules.
- Ability to summarize project status to clearly and effectively report out to high level stake holders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead a team towards common goals.
- Strong desire and ability to collaborate and coordinate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent organization and time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in maintaining and updating schedules.
- Knowledge of project management and EVMS methodologies and best practices.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, such as Excel or Tableau, to generate reports and metrics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
