Job Title: Electrical Foreperson
The Opportunity:
Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Foreperson to join our team at a project location 65 miles outside of Elko, Nevada. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent or designate, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe and efficient electrical services to our projects and clients. In providing this service, the role contributes to achieving Barminco’s purpose, principles and aspirations.
Location: 65 Miles outside of Elko, Nevada
Shift: 16-days on / 12-days off rotation
Accommodation: Camp and meals provided. Travel allowance may be available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and develop the Electrical crews to be effective in their roles.
- Support the site leadership teams in the effective implementation of Barminco safety systems and initiatives to improve safety performance, as they pertain to the electrical function.
- Establish and maintain electrical licenses as required for all Barminco US operations.
- Develop and maintain electrical systems and procedures to ensure compliance with required US standards and legislation.
- Assist with development of tenders and regular cost review
- Work with technology team to adopt and implement new electrical technology
- Review working areas of sites and ensure compliance with all relevant Acts and Regulations, Barminco’s and our clients policies, procedures, work instructions and standards.
- Ensure visual leadership interactions are undertaken.
- Support site electrical teams with planning.
- Liaise with site Project Management and Operations Managers for any non-compliance and/or safety issues relating to site electrical concerns.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to site team members.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years as an Underground electrician with 5 years minimum in Supervisory role
- Sound knowledge of US standards relevant to underground mining electrical systems
- Sound knowledge of developing and maintaining electrical management systems
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
- Journeyman Electrician license required.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, power distribution, and underground mining equipment.
- First Aid qualifications.
Work Conditions:
- Site-based role in an active underground mining environment with frequent exposure to mobile equipment, confined spaces, low light conditions, dust, diesel exhaust, and high noise levels.
- Work performed in ventilation-controlled areas where air quality may vary depending on production activity and equipment operation.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods on uneven, wet, muddy, or rocky surfaces throughout the shift.
- Capacity to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work effectively within confined underground spaces.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted; heavier items lifted with mechanical assistance or team support.
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination - Required
- Visual acuity sufficient to distinguish colors, read markings, and operate safely in low-light conditions.
- Auditory ability to hear alarms and verbal instructions and communicate effectively in high-noise environments while wearing required PPE.
- Work performed on a rotational schedule with extended shifts (typically 12 hours) and compliance with site medical, respirator fit testing, drug and alcohol, and fitness-for-duty requirements.
- Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (Dayshift/Nightshift) minimum 12-hour days-Working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation. - Required
