Position Overview
ProCo and AICA Orthopedics, Atlanta's premier integrated healthcare provider with 21 locations, is seeking a highly skilled Interventional Spine Specialist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team. This is not a traditional anesthesiology role – we're looking for an anesthesia-trained physician who specializes in interventional pain management and minimally invasive spine procedures.
This is a highly procedure-based position with minimal clinical chronic pain management. You'll work with mid-level providers who handle routine clinical work, allowing you to focus on what you do best: performing procedures. Core Responsibilities
Interventional Pain Procedures (Primary Focus)
- Perform high-volume spinal interventions including:
- Epidural steroid injections
- Facet or medial branch blocks
- Radiofrequency ablations (RFA)
- Nerve ablations and neurotomy procedures
- Kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty
- Basivertebral nerve ablation
- Sacroiliac joint injections
- Dorsal column stimulator implantation
- PRP and regenerative medicine injections
Minimally Invasive Surgery (Critical Requirement)
- Conduct or perform endoscopic spine surgeries and minimally invasive interventions such as:
- Minimally invasive disc decompression (MIDD)
- Percutaneous disc decompression (PDD)
- Endoscopic radiofrequency ablation
- Disc FX procedures
- Joimax endoscopic techniques
- Provide backup coverage and succession planning for existing MIS surgeon
Patient Care & Clinical Excellence
- Evaluate and diagnose patients with spine-related pain and injuries
- Develop treatment plans focused on interventional approaches
- Demonstrate strong patient engagement and communication skills
- Guide appropriate patients toward procedural interventions when clinically indicated
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team for comprehensive patient care
Multi-Site Coverage
- Rotate between primary locations: Atlanta (Buckhead), Duluth, Jonesboro, and Marietta
- Provide coverage across Atlanta metro area as needed
- Maintain flexibility to support practice needs across ProCo / AICA locations
Qualifications & Requirements
Required
Education & Certification:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Board-certified or Board-eligible in Anesthesiology
- Board-certified or Board-eligible in Pain Management/Interventional Pain
Critical Experience:
- Proven proficiency in minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS) – this is non-negotiable
- Demonstrated expertise in endoscopic spine procedures (Joimax, Disc FX, PDD, or similar)
- Experience with full spectrum of interventional pain procedures
- Strong surgical mindset – ability to appropriately guide patients toward procedural interventions when indicated
Licensure:
- Active medical license (willing to obtain Georgia license within 60 days)
- DEA certification
- ACLS certification
Preferred
- Fellowship training in Interventional Pain Management or Spine
- 10+ years of post-residency experience in interventional spine
- Experience in personal injury, orthopedic, or multi-specialty practice settings
- Track record of high procedural volumes and strong patient outcomes
- Existing credentialing and hospital privileges (transferable)

Practice Details
Schedule:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- No weekends, no on-call responsibilities
- 2 days per week in procedure room
- Remaining time split between clinical locations (Duluth, Jonesboro, Cobb County)
Patient Population:
- Personal injury cases
- Commercial health insurance
- Workers' compensation
- Focus on acute and subacute spine injuries
Support Structure:
- Mid-level providers (PAs/NPs) handle routine clinical visits
- Dedicated medical staff and administrative support
- Modern facilities and equipment across all locations
Compensation & Benefits
Highly Competitive Package:
- Base salary in the high six figures to low seven figures
