Job Summary:

The Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery of security system projects from kickoff through completion. This position bridges field operations and project management, ensuring technical execution aligns with design requirements, project schedules, and client expectations.

The Project Engineer works closely with project managers, field technicians, and clients to coordinate activities, resolve technical challenges, and maintain project momentum. This role is ideal for individuals with strong technical experience who are looking to expand into project coordination and leadership responsibilities.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination & Support: Assist Project Managers in planning, scheduling, and executing projects, ensuring alignment with scope, timelines, and client requirements.
  • Technical Execution Oversight: Support field teams by interpreting system designs, drawings, and specifications, ensuring installations meet technical and quality standards.
  • Field & Office Collaboration: Act as a liaison between field technicians, engineering teams, and project management to ensure clear communication and efficient execution.
  • System Documentation & Submittals: Prepare and review project documentation including submittals, RFIs, as-built drawings, and closeout packages.
  • Material & Resource Coordination: Assist with procurement tracking, material coordination, and ensuring necessary resources are available to support project timelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Support quality control processes by verifying installations meet design specifications, industry standards, and internal requirements.
  • Client Interaction: Participate in project meetings and provide updates to clients and stakeholders as needed.
  • Problem Solving & Issue Resolution: Identify and help resolve technical and operational challenges to keep projects on track.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Skills: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
  • Experience: 3-7 years of experience in electronic security systems, construction, low-voltage systems, or related technical field. Prior field experience as a technician is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with electronic security systems such as access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection is preferred. Basic understanding of system integration and networked systems is a plus.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to travel to project sites and support field operations as needed
  • Overnight travel may be required based on project scope
  • Ability to work in construction and secure environments
  • May require walking job sites, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions

General Requirements for All Levels:

  • Communication: Strong oral and written skills to interact with peers, supervisors, and clients.
  • Analytical Skills: Detail-oriented, capable of diagnosing and solving problems.
  • Screening Requirements: Candidates must pass a background check, have a valid driver’s license, and be eligible for U.S. Government Security Clearance.
