Job Description

Air Vehicle Operator (CONUS and Deployed)

Job Description: The Air Vehicle Operator (CONUS and Deployed) is responsible for the safe and effective operation of various unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in both domestic and deployed environments. This role involves mission planning, pre-flight checks, in-flight control, and post-flight maintenance and reporting. The Air Vehicle Operator must maintain a high level of proficiency in operating the UAV systems, adhering to strict safety protocols, and adapting to changing operational conditions. This position DOES NOT require relocation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough pre-flight checks and diagnostics to ensure the UAV is in optimal condition for mission execution

  • Operate the UAV with precision, maintaining positive control and situational awareness at all times

  • Monitor and adjust the UAV's flight path, altitude, and speed to achieve mission objectives

  • Coordinate with air traffic control and other relevant authorities to maintain airspace safety

  • Perform post-flight maintenance, data analysis, and documentation to support ongoing operations

  • Maintain a high level of proficiency in the operation of UAV systems through continuous training and skill development

  • Adapt to changing operational environments, including deployment to various locations, and operate the UAV accordingly

  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, regulations, and standard operating procedures

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current or ability to obtain FAA Class II Medical Certificate

  • Current FAA Commercial Pilot License or greater than 500 hours operating a Group 3-5 UAS with the Department of War (DoW)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience flying Group 3 and/or Group 4-5 UAS

  • Piccolo Experience

  • Demonstrated experience flying international missions

  • Payload and Gimbal Operating Experience

  • FAA Instrument Rating

  • Previous qualification as a Pilot in command on a DoW UAS program

  • Previous experience flying the LEAP or Ultra aircraft
