About This Position
Regional Sales Manager Opportunity Summary:
We are seeking a Regional Sales Manager of Generator Service who will direct and coordinate all activities related to the sale of preventative maintenance contracts in the power generation equipment (standby generators, continuous duty generators, portable continuous duty generators, combined heat and power generators, switchgear, transfer switches, and any other power generation ancillary equipment). This manager works with key team members such as the GM Sales of Power Generation, GM Sales of Power Systems, National Sales Manager of Generator Service and the Manager of Engineering and Sales Support to develop and maintain a satisfied and loyal customer base, an effective path to market and strong support from our OEM business partners. Position reports to the Vice President of Sales Power Generator Service.
Job Duties:
- Works with the National Sales Manager of Generator Service to develop appropriate financial goals congruent with the needs of the company. Develops strategies and identifies tactics necessary to achieve these goals. Monitors and manages plan achievement during the plan year and takes corrective action as needed to ensure that financial goals are met.
- Works with the National Sales Manager of Generator Service in development of all OEM-required business plans involving power generation; monitors achievement and takes corrective action as needed.
- In concert with direct reports, develops individual financial goals for all reporting sales personnel. Assists in the development of strategies for achieving said goals.
- Interviews, hires and reviews team members. Creates new positions as needed to ensure goal achievement, business growth and customer satisfaction.
- Coaches team members and communicates with them regularly. Assists with meeting their needs for technical and customer support. Helps them formulate strategies and techniques to win business and properly follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction. Evaluates team member sales techniques and assists in customer calls and in negotiating and closing deals whenever necessary.
- Provides an environment in which team members can be self-motivated to achieve goals and improve their capabilities.
- Determines individual and group training needs and works with the National Sales Manager of Generator Service to establish both in-house and external programs to ensure that team members receive the training they need for maximum performance.
- Develops efficiencies and cost controls within the sales process. Monitors and approves all significant expenses related to the sales team. Manages to the expense budget.
- Coaches subordinate team members to achieve optimal results. Provides an environment in which team members can be self-motivated to achieve goals and improve their capabilities.
- Reviews monthly operating results against forecast to identify areas of focus and improvement.
- Reports operating results to the National Sales Manager of Generator Service which includes but is not limited to new business wins and losses, revenues, margins, and other performance indicators. Communicates pressing issues with urgency where response times are of the essence, regardless of day or time of day.
- Manages and approves sales commissions for all sales team personnel.
- Ensures acceptance of new systems such as Salesforce, Karmak, and OEM business portal tools.
- Evaluates and reports escalated customer, employee, or OEM issues to ensure timely resolutions with the best possible outcomes.
- Helps identify strategic growth opportunities such as territory expansion, new OEM product lines or potential acquisitions.
Work Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication, leadership, & customer service
- Computer and software skills including Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite.
