Assistant Site Director (Youth Soccer Camp Health & Safety Lead) San Diego Wave Camps | San Diego, CA
San Diego Wave Camps is seeking an Assistant Site Director (Health & Safety Lead) for our 2026 Summer Youth Soccer Camps across San Diego County.
This is a leadership support role with a strong healthcare and safety focus, ideal for candidates interested in medicine, athletic training, education, or youth development.
As an Assistant Site Director, you will work closely with the Site Director to ensure a safe, organized, and positive camp environment. You will take the lead on camper health, first aid, and risk prevention, while also supporting daily camp operations and staff coordination.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is interested in gaining hands-on healthcare experience in a youth sports setting.
Core Responsibilities (Health & Safety + Operations):Ensure a safe camp environment for all staff, campers, and parents
Administer first aid care to campers and staff as needed
Manage medications for campers with life-threatening allergies and medical needs (e.g., EpiPens)
Communicate clearly with parents and headquarters regarding injuries, illnesses, and incidents
Maintain detailed health records and manage first aid supply inventory
Conduct daily health checks and provide ongoing care throughout the camp day
Work proactively to minimize risk and prevent injuries
Support coaches in managing camper behavior and resolving conflicts
Assist with camp operations including attendance tracking, staff timekeeping, and reporting
Gain hands-on healthcare experience in a youth sports setting
Build skills relevant to careers in medicine, nursing, athletic training, or education
Work with a premier youth soccer program connected to San Diego Wave FC
Make a meaningful impact on the health, safety, and development of young athletes
Work outdoors in a collaborative, high-energy environment
Experience working with children ages 412
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required
EMT licensure (San Diego County accredited) preferred but not required
Interest in gaining experience in the healthcare or medical field
Ability to connect with children both one-on-one and in group settings
Strong character, integrity, and positive attitude
Dependable, reliable, and accountable
Experience in youth camps, schools, or sports programs
Interest in sports medicine, pre-med, nursing, kinesiology, or education
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to stay calm and act quickly in high-pressure situations
7-week summer commitment: June 22 August 7, 2026
MondayFriday, approximately 8 hours per day
Ability to travel to camp locations including Carmel Valley, Eastlake, Point Loma, Encinitas, La Jolla, and Carlsbad with reliable transportation
Reliable transportation required
Must pass a comprehensive background screening
$23.50/hour
