Job Description
Our team is looking to add an outgoing and energetic Bartender to join the Moxy San Diego Downtown team. More than just making drinks, you'll create memorable experiences by engaging with guests, crafting quality cocktails, recommending menu items, and bringing the vibrant personality of the Moxy brand to life. You'll help create an inviting social atmosphere where guests and locals alike feel welcome, while providing exceptional food and beverage service in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful in this role, you should have a friendly and engaging personality, strong communication skills, and a passion for hospitality. You must be able to multitask, work efficiently under pressure, and deliver exceptional service while maintaining a fun, authentic, and professional presence behind the bar.
This position may require flexible scheduling availability.
Requirements:Job Requirements:
- Create a welcoming, energetic, and memorable experience for every guest by delivering service that reflects the Moxy brand personality.
- Prepare and serve beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages with consistency, quality, and creativity.
- Engage with guests, answer questions, recommend menu items, and provide knowledgeable suggestions on beverages and food offerings.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout each shift, ensuring all supplies are readily available.
- Accurately process cash, credit card, room charge, and other payment transactions in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Verify guest identification and responsibly monitor alcohol consumption while following all local, state, and company alcohol service guidelines.
- Receive food and beverage orders, communicate effectively with the kitchen, and ensure timely delivery to guests.
- Complete opening, closing, and shift responsibilities, including required reports and cash reconciliation.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bar, tables, countertops, glassware, equipment, and surrounding guest areas.
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations while maintaining Marriott and hotel brand standards.
- Work collaboratively with fellow bartenders, servers, front desk associates, and leadership to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Job Qualifications:
- Passion for hospitality with an outgoing, engaging, and guest-focused personality.
- Previous bartending experience preferred; knowledge of classic cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build genuine connections with guests.
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns professionally.
- Comfortable working under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and attention to detail.
- Commitment to responsible alcohol service and compliance with all applicable laws and company policies.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and late-night shifts.

The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
