Job Summary
Architect IV's are responsible for the development of contract documents and to orchestrate multidisciplinary team coordination.
Job Responsibilities
Senior Architects work as part of a multi-discipline team managing the comprehensive development of architectural design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. Senior Architects manage the work of production teams of architectural professionals and are responsible for the quality of the technical services provided. Assignments will include programming, space planning, design, editing specifications, producing deliverable drawing sets for floor plans, roof plans, building and wall sections, details and schedules.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Designs and specifies project-appropriate architectural requirements
- Plans and develops projects of various sizes
- Independently investigates, evaluates, and recommends design solutions, and prioritizes work
- Plans, organizes, and directs the work of Architects, Designers, and other junior professionals
- Leads code analysis and coordinates agency, fire marshal, and jurisdictional compliance reviews.
- Performs Revit modeling and detailing
- Initiates and facilitates cross-discipline discussions and coordination with multidisciplinary teammates
- Conducts site investigations and observations
- Attends client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development
- Prepares narratives, reports, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints
- Reviews architectural documents for quality and compliance with code and program requirements, and conflicts with other disciplines.
- Participates in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFI’s, solving construction issues, and performing site visits to assess general conformance with the design concept
- Maintains knowledge of current industry trends on space, function, materials, etc.
- Mentors and encourages the development of junior professionals
- Travel for project-related activities will be required
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited college or university
- Registered Architect
- 8+ years of experience in the planning, design, and documentation of healthcare projects of various complexity
- Demonstrated experience with OSHPD/HCAI requirements and process
- Ability to independently perform assignments with instructions as to the general results expected
- Ability to direct and lead a production team of architectural teammates to develop and orchestrate full team coordination of contract documents
- Understands the client’s decision-making processes and develops relationships internally and externally
- Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards
- Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to become involved in and remain current on issues relating to a number of concurrent projects in various stages
- Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills
- Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team
Preferred Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in architecture from an accredited college or university
- Experience leading large client user groups through the project design process
- LEED Accredited Professional, EDAC, and/or ACHA credential
- Experience using Newforma and Deltek VantagePoint
- Active leader and member of varied professional organizations
Salary range for this position varies between $95,000 – $145,000, depending upon applicable experience.
