Position Summary

As part of the AIS team and broader Tech24 network, the HVACR PM Apprentice supports senior technicians in performing preventative maintenance (PM) and basic service on commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment. This role is designed for individuals who are mechanically inclined and eager to grow within the skilled trades. The PM Apprentice will focus primarily on preventative maintenance, system inspections, basic repairs, and learning diagnostic procedures under the supervision of experienced technicians,

Key Responsibilities

Assist senior technicians with preventative maintenance on walk-in coolers/freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, rooftop units, split systems, and exhaust/make-up air systemsPerform routine PM tasks such as cleaning coils, changing filters, inspecting belts, checking electrical connections, testing system performance, and verifying proper refrigeration levels Identify and report early signs of system wear or failure to senior techniciansSupport basic troubleshooting and minor repairs under supervisionlearn proper refrigeration handling and EPA compliance proceduresAccurately document service calls, parts used, labor hours, and customer interactions in company systemMaintain organized truck inventory and ensure proper care of tools and equipmentFollow all safety guidelines and company policiesDeliver professional and courteous customer service while onsiteParticipate in ongoing technical training and certification programsGradually assume greater responsibility as skills and certifications are achieved

Qualifications

0-2 years of HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, or related technical experience preferredTrade school or technical school training strongly preferredEPA Universal Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within the first year)Valid drivers license with a clean driving record requiredBasic understanding of mechanical and electrical systemsStrong willingness to learn and receive hands-on coachingAbility to read and interpret basic wiring diagrams and technical manualsStrong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a teamAbility to lift up to 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor / outdoor conditionsAbility to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quartersMust be willing to participate in on-call rotation as skills progress

Compensation Transparency

The advertised pay range for this position is $18-$25 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as mechanical aptitude, prior technical experience, certifications, and overall qualifications. As an apprentice-level position, compensation reflects a training-focused role with significant opportunity for wage growth as skills and certifications are earned.
