Position Description:

Job Level: Project Management

Department: Project Management / Project Engineer

Market: Heavy Civil Construction

The Project Manager will be responsible for all field operations. The main emphasis will be to cultivate further and promote our safety culture. Additionally making sure our crews are efficient in our day-to-day operations and our equipment is being fully utilized.

Key Requirements

  1. Understanding of construction “Best Management Practices”
  2. Experience with budgets and project delivery.
  3. Understanding schedules and critical paths.
  4. Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications and our safety standards.
  5. Microsoft proficiency in excel, word and PowerPoint.
  6. Results oriented and flexible with strong analytical, written and verbal communication.
  7. Detail oriented, organized and able to manage multiple priorities that may be constantly changing.
  8. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independent and collaboratively.
  9. Maintain equipment lists of types, locations and availability.
  10. Able to identify equipment needs and type needed.
  11. Will work with Project manager to develop equipment schedules.
  12. Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation.
  13. Capable of reviewing construction plans to identify alternate phasing.
  14. Establish and maintain positive client relationships.
  15. Understands budgetary constraints to suggest value engineering proposals for functionality, cost and schedule benefit.
  16. Understanding of waste percentages and able to communicate them to the supervisors.
  17. Good understanding of the clients bid items as they relate to revenue.
  18. Attend pre-construction and progress meetings.
  19. Participation in the monthly project reviews.
  20. Communicates regularly with operations manager.
  21. Monitors progress and quality of construction and provides functional expertise to the project managers.
  22. Will not direct crews but will communicate with project managers of the observations and will make suggestions.


Position Requirements:
  1. Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  2. 10+ years’ experience in heavy highway construction.
  3. 10+ years’ experience as project manager.
  4. Strong leadership abilities with the ability to effectively communicate.
  5. Self-starting attitude and demonstrated ability to get things done.
  6. Strong communication and organization skills.
  7. Valid driver's license required
  8. Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques and materials.
  9. Good understanding of equipment capabilities.
  10. Good comprehension of computer skills and software.

Other Requirements:

  1. Regular, reliable attendance.
  2. Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
  3. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  4. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
