Position: CPA – Estate & Trust (Partnership Level)
Location: Bergen County, NJ
Salary Range: $175000 – $220,000 PLUS (Depending on Experience)

Overview:

A dynamic, multi-location public accounting firm in the Tri-State area is seeking a highly experienced CPA with deep expertise in estate, trust, and tax matters. This opportunity is ideal for a professional ready to take over an established estate and trust client base and step into a partner-track leadership role. Senior level professional preferred. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, technically adept, and capable of working directly with high-value clients in a consultative and strategic capacity. For the right individual, the potential for growth and income is unlimited.

Key Qualifications:

  • CPA license required; advanced degree in tax, law, or accounting preferred
  • 5–10 years of experience in a public accounting firm, with a focus on trusts and estates
  • Strong leadership and client-facing skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in problem-solving
  • Proficient in tax software, trial balance tools, spreadsheets, and research platforms
  • Familiar with GAAP, FAS, SAS, GAAS, and general ledger structures

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare and review estate and trust fiduciary accountings and related tax filings
  • Lead fiduciary accounting services and coordinate with attorneys, courts, and fiduciaries
  • Oversee general trust and estate administration, including distributions and recordkeeping
  • Manage judicial and non-judicial accountings and participate in quality control reviews
  • Advise on trustee and executor actions, including investment and funding analysis
  • Compute trustee commissions, unitrust/annuity payments, and tax estimates
  • Support the final settlement and closure of trusts and estates
  • Interpret governing trust documents to ensure proper accounting allocations
